Jon has always been drawn to universal stories woven from underrepresented people. Raised by Chinese parents born in Lima, Peru, he grew up in his family’s grocery store in East Vancouver. Walking the blurred lines of his Chinese and Latino heritage, he developed a sensitivity that he uses to reveal the truths about our shared experiences.

    A movement artist of over 50 years, Yayoi Hirano (古い) has performed on stages across Europe, Asia, and North America.

    One of the few female wooden mask makers in the world, Yayoi brings her own sensibilities and approach to her craft. She fuses Japanese and Western dance with French Miming, to tell stories across cultures. In “The Mime,” Yayoi reflects on the lessons of creativity and life as a performer.

    ④ Thank You Grandma (多謝嫲嫲) - Asian Heritage Month

    For our grandmothers. Without them, we would not be here.

    "Thank You Grandma" is a tender portrayal of a lifelong relationship between a grandson and his grandmother. Made in honour of Asian Heritage Month, this film is a celebration of love in all its many forms and a story of coming home to ourselves.
